Pieces are weighted for extra stability during play. They are also hand-polished and feature thick billiard felt bottoms to protect the board surface from scratches. King measures 3.06 in. with 1.25 diameter base. Also includes 24 wooden checker pieces in natural and dark stained wood that measure 1.1 in. diameter.
- QUALITY BOARD: This chessboard comes with a stained and natural wood checkerboard pattern and felt padded drawers on either side for convenient and safe storage. This wooden chess board measures 15 x 15 x 2.5 in. with 1.56 in. squares. The highly decorative inlay border around the grid and elegant wood moulding on the sides make this a beautiful centerpiece on any table.
- STAUNTON STYLE: Staunton design has become the standard for tournament play. The pieces are easily distinguishable making for easier game play. Knights are made to resemble a horse. Rooks feature castle battlements, and bishops resemble a liturgical headdress of a western church. Pawns are the smallest and are topped by a plain ball.
